Do you wait until the gas gauge shows E?

Usually about a 1/4, you never know when you will need it one day when you are running late and don't have time to fill up etc!

Half full, half empty. Optimist or pessimist. Will he make it? Bet he won't.
It's just a matter of perspective.

I never let it go below 1/4. I do not know when it might cut me off for whatever reason. Gas stations (they sell diesel too, weird), close during prayer times here, so more than once I wanted to refill too late but couldn't (and I was like &##@%^#*). My car is old and I feel like the fuel tank has some rubbish at the bottom. That worries me thinking low gas level would push those up and kill the gas filter faster (just my imagination probably).

Anyways, gas is dirt cheap here. No much worries of filling any time.

Some vehicles have their fuel pump in the gas tank AND depend on fuel surrounding it to cool the pump. I had a 1997 Chevy Suburban that had this setup and read stories of premature fuel pump failures due to routinely driving with too little fuel in the tank to keep the fuel pump properly cooled.
