This reminds me of something that happened about 30 years ago, a buddy of mine found a car parked touching the bumper of his car (no scratch, dent or damage of any kind). In order to "teach that a-hole a lesson" he got a screwdriver out and punched a half-dozen holes in the car's radiator. I explained to him that since he didn't leave a note or anything, the person would never know why someone destroyed the radiator and therefore wouldn't learn a thing from the experience other than the fact that mean people exist.
