Installing a SSD

a 4 pin connector. Don't you mean a sata power connector. A 4 pin looks like ether this:

what you'll need is a molex (4-pin) to SATA power adapter. I'm not sure where you can get those in the UK but google should help you find a store/on-line retailer.
 
Use the best cable your motherboard supports. So if it supports Sata3. use a Sata 3 cable.
You can still use Sata 2. I don't think it's gonna do much difference on that SSD. But some of the very fast SSD's are bottlenecked by Sata 2. So they don't perform as well as they can

SATA to Molex converters are only really recommended for DVD drives etc

If I remember right there is something missing from a Molex connector that the proper SATA connection has. Yes it will work but it could cause problems with hibernate/sleep states if you ever use them.
