Windows says that it suggests that I replace the battery in our laptop. The only thing is, the laptop is only 2 years old. Can a battery really go bad that fast? And if that is not likely, then what do you think it might be?

Thanks all in advance.

It is in use every day, pretty much all the time. The power settings stay on balanced, though I do not allow it to auto hibernate.

Can it go bad in 2 years. Yes. Every hardware component can fail.
Can you still see how much battery there is left? i have seen an example were a battery worked fine, it just couldn't reed how much juice there was left.

That pretty well answers my question then. Yes I can see how much power is left, and it goes away fast. This laptop will go from 100% to 4% in about 40 mins.

Ah well, that just means that I will have to keep it plugged in constantly until I can get a new battery. I had no idea that you had to pay for a different warranty with Dell for hardware until it was far to late.

Thank you very much for your help.
