Painting PC Parts

It doesn't matter much anyway, sense I'm getting the Asus Z97- AR. It has a great color to go with a black and white build.

I've heard that painted heat sinks work better, but it must depend on what kind of paint. Something that puts a thick layer on it should be wrong, but using say a magic marker may work. It's just to radiate more infrared, if you use a fan there likely is no point in painting the heat sinks.
