Hi all,

I have installed an SSD into my laptop to replace my mechanical harddrive, and was going to install Win 8.1 on it (I have it on disk) and it isn't booting into the CD drive.

The laptop is a HP Pavilion and I clicked F9 to open the boot manager and the list is completely empty. Not sure where to go from here.

Thank you for the response. I had indeed checked the bios and I put CD boot as first. Turns out it had been using a different boot sequence (UEFI?) and the legacy boot was disabled.

I didn't notice that when I had gone through the bios the 3 or so times that I did. So I enabled legacy boot and rebooted and it loaded right up.

Installing Windows 8.1 now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)
