Occasional freezing during 'Starting Windows'

Afternoon all, thought i'd query this here as google doesn't seem to be throwing much up that's useful. - before I begin, specs are in sig.

every 2-3 days when I come home from work and switch my rig on, it will hang on 'Starting Windows', just before the little Windows logo flag swirls onto the screen. After 30-40 seconds of hanging I get a boot failure error. Rebooting and selecting Start Windows Normally... and she boots just fine. Every. time.

Anyone have any ideas why this happens at all? My boot drive is a more-or-less brand new HyperX 3K SSD, which is plugged into a SATA3 port on my motherboard using a clip-secured cable.

Yesterday, pre-emptively (as she was due to perform this weird failure anytime soon now, and voila it happened today...) I went through and updated every single driver I have installed for any device on this machine (Using DriverMax). Every driver is now on the latest version, including the storage controller on my mobo. But still it happened again just now... rebooted and it booted fine the second time.

It's not really a problem, it's just frustrating! Can anyone suggest what I might be able to check? All my BIOS settings seem to be correct to the best of my knowledge.

cheers

Hard drive issues?

Could you be more specific about the error?

I'd make sure everything is backed up.

Yes backup everything and get the manufacturers hard drive diagnostics tools and run that to see what that says..

I agree check that SSD out and see if you are having any problems with it. There are SSD's and then there are SSD's, meaning some are much better than others and some are prone to breaking down or having errors. I still recommend backing up everything no matter what kind of drive you are using.

This is what Kingston's SMART status tool is giving me:

Firmware is up to date, according to the same tool. Really not sure what the problem is tbh!
