External Hard Drive Error

Hey guys,


I have an external fantom drives HDD 1TB. I plugged it on my computer and my other laptops, but it doesnt seem to read it. It does not come up onto the My Computer, nor the Disk Management. The harddrive is on. but there is a blue light that is not lit anymore... Do you think that its the power supply problem or a harddrive problem? Sometimes it reads the hard drive but it wont show the hard drive folder in my computer.

To me it sounds like a power supply problem. I have never had that brand of external HDD but it looks like they all need an external power supply. Do you have an ohm meter? if you do I would set it to whatever voltage the power supply is supposed to put out and test it from the plug. About the best way I know of to check a power supply.

If the light's not coming on, I'm going to agree that it's a power supply issue.
