Is this a compatibility issue

A computer in the office is windows XP running office 2003,

Another PC is windows 8 running office 2010,

The documents done in office 2010 cannot be played on the old system - what should I do? Should I upgrade the office version on the XP system to read the doc. files

That being said, if you can upgrade then that's what I would do.
