So I have just acquired an ASUS Pro 55S laptop that has Vista and I wish to wipe it and install Windows 8.1. Now when I boot up to the USB drive I created it doesn't do the spinning circle and then a blue error message like this for example, I've been able to use this USB to install on my laptop.

Hmmmm I've never seen this error before but from what I can see from Google it's a form of BSOD.

Couple of steps that I would take to get round it.

Re-build your bootable Windows 8 USB stick.
If that doesn't work then try making a bootable DVD to install it from? Could be something in the drivers that it doesn't like installing from USB?

That would be my first steps.

I am also thinking whether its because the hard drive is set to IDE/AHCI but I cannot find any where in the bios to change it..
