Hi, this is kinda a speculation post more than anything and Im not even sure what I am asking yet, I will make this up as I go along XD.

I plan on in hopefully this side of the year aka withing 3-6mounths, depending on when I manage to get a job, build a HIGH end PC for gameing and a bit of everything maby.

However this year both intels next gen "broadwell" I serris is due as is DDR4 Ram, However I was wondering if its not realsed before I have the funds should I go ahead and build a PC anyways, or should I wait for all the price drops in current tech as they phase in new stuff, or just buy the new stuff?

Basicly I am wondering three or four main things.

1) How long will it take untill we see next gen hardware for consumers like you and me.

2)Will it be backwards compatible with current hardware like will DDR4 work with current DDR3 motherbords?

3)Will they relase this stuff more or less at the same time, and also will it be realsed at the same time as the mortherbored for it, I would imagine so as I cant see them releasing Boradwell and DDR4 without haveing motherboreds ect ect ready for it.

3a) Will it be worth buying when it comes out, aka maby I should wait for it to saturate the market better so I have a choich, and not just from the one MFG that has it for sale. (Think ram here as not all MFGs will have DDR4 ready at the same time???)

4) Are we going to see HUGHE price hikes as its "new" or will it take the same or just slightly higer price than current top end components and everything else will get cheaper?

5)Just what sort of diffrence in CPU power are we talking, or is it not really gonna be much a big thing??? AKA is it even worth buying.

6) What next in line for grahpics cards, I Know Nivada are going to relaese a Double chipped 780TI card, with 10GB RAM!! OMG!!!, and they also have plans to release a Titan Black eddition wich will just be a 780Ti card but with more ram.

But where do we go from there?? I dont undersrtand grahics cards at all really but I understand they have maxed out there current chips or something and will need a new acritecture or something??

Any reading or links on any of this is much aprreciated I am still a noob at all this stuff but it dose intrest me a lot.

As I have asked so much could you please just answer the parts you can as not all will be able to answer it all anyways and theres a lot so it would be confusing so can you please put it in bullet points with the related question so I now what you are talking about thanks.\

so yhea this is kinda a odd Question with no spersficics I just wan to know all your thoughts on the next / newest hardware and whats next ect ect:D:lol::rofl:

Thank you all!

Here are some of my answers.

1.We should start to see the next line of CPU's, RAM, ect within this year.

2.DDR4 RAM will probably not be compatible with DDR3 slots on the motherboard.

3.The Intel's newest the of CPU's is going to be called Broadwell, it will still use socket 1150 as long as they haven't changed their plans.

4.Most of the next line of hardware shouldn't be a complete necessity to purchase, not only because it will cost more but here is an example a 3930K I7 is not hardly any different than a 4930K I7. Same with RAM DRR3 Ram running at 2400 mega hertz is already so fast increasing the mega hertz would hardly change anything.

5.You can basically expect the same thing with next gen video cards as you could from past video cards, more graphic memory, higher clock speed, ect.

Those are my answers, some of them may be incorrect, though if it is someone of CF will come around and correct me.

The reason why I have a lot of answers is because I wanted to know the same thing. I'm 15 years old and currently saving money to build a gaming pc. But I wanted to know if I should wait until the next generation of hardware came out, or just build it with the current stuff. So I did lots of research and now I told you that research.

So from what you are saying I won't be a large disavantage using current gen equipment (at least for a few years hopefully) which is good to know, I can always upgrade at a later date then.

Thanks!

Your very welcome. However as time passes we will see how much actually changes, it could hardly change or it could change a lot. Only time will tell.

EDIT

I noticed that you said you were going to build a HIGH end gaming pc, I wondered what the specs are planned for it to have are. Mind posting them?

The problem with waiting for the 'next-gen' hardware is that there is always next gen hardware coming out. You just have to decide to buy it now, and then upgrade later if it's a big difference.

Now I dont want to come across as snob or anything, this is something I am going to have to work hard and save for and this lost is hyperthetical as I dont have the money yet and by the time I do completely new thing may be out by then.

But I want to build something that can handle the latest games at Max resolution (not 4k though) and ultra high quakty settings, but I dont just want to do it now I want my computer to last a good few years of being able to do this so it is at least somewhat futureproof.

So I will likely be around £1500 (Excluding moniter / phericals) (Maby up to £2000)

I would be looking at a single card GPU build not a SLI build but I would use a top end GPU so something like this.

I7 (not a flagship extreme model but one of the ones around £250 likely a K version but not gonna over clock it until wanritys run out as I know nothing about nor do I want to over clock / shorten life span of components)

But it dpens is broad well is out but if not likly a 4770k.

Ram I am looking at 2000+ MHz 16GB (upgrade to 32 in future) overkill I know but hay...

Power surrply will be a mid to high end 850w cossair one.

CPU will be a 780Ti or maby a Dual 290x (but nvida have a titan black and 790 out soon but doubt I will be able yo afford these...

Motherboard will be a mid range one around £100 (I dont understand motherboards and I won't need a really good one as won't be over clocking.

I will have my OS / games / system on a 250GB SSD and any other files will be on a 1TB HDD.

And case i have decided will be a silver cossair air 540 cube (that case is just porn IMO)

As you can see the specsa are not set in stone with no spersfic parts but I have a rough idea of what I want...I want this syterm to last for 3-5 years before I need to start upgrading it to keep up with modern games.

Sorry for such a broad answer!

We are very much alike, both saving up money to build our first PC, both were wondering about the next line of hardware coming out, and both are going to be building a PC that is overkill.

Here are my full planned PC specs.

CASE- Corsair Obsidian 750D ATX Full Tower Case $150

MOBO- ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB
3.0 $500

CPU- Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 3.4GHz LGA 2011 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor $580

FAN- CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler $100

GPU- EVGA 03G-P4-2883-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti Super clocked 3GB 384-bit $730

PSU- CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready $320

SSD- SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal SSD $220

HDD- WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s $160

RAM- G.SKILL Sniper Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 $160

So yeah, just a little bit overkill

HA! just bit, Im not fussed by watercooling as they are sticking 2 GTX780Tis in micro ATX towers these days without cooling issues, so one in a larger case that is sold on haaveing very good cooling I dont see the need for water cooling but it IS VERY COOL!!!

A few questions though, why 4*4GB Ram not 2*8GB? more slots left then.

YIKES that prossosr is a beast! I LIKE!

Are you planning on OCing, as otherwise what are the benifits of such a extream motherbored? I dont kno wmuch about mothere bored other than more epxensive ones have better componets so last longer but other than that why do people pay more for better ones???

I have no idea what MB i would get yet, Im still toying with the idea of 1150 vs newer 2011 socket....

and finaly whats with the MONSTER of a PSU dose a systerm like that really need such a big one??

What compnesnt use that much power or is it for the watercooling???

BUT ITS GONNA BE A BEAST OF A MACHINE!!!

(Just needs 4*GTX790 in SLI LOL KIDDING! / BTW that would be like haveing 6-8 780Tis plus more ram.)

Yes I have been planning to do extreme overclocking, CPU, RAM, GPU.

The reason for the 1200 watt PSU is because I may want to do SLI configurations later as well as who knows how much power the next line of video cards could use.

The reason for the 4 - 4gb RAM sticks is because that motherboard has 8 slots and since I would like to take advantage of quad channel RAM without having to buy 4 - 8gb RAM sticks. However I may end up getting 4 - 8gb sticks anyway.

EDIT

I forgot to say why I chose such an amazing motherboard. The best thing about it is its overclocking feature, it can literately overclock everything in the PC by just clicking one thing.

Another very good thing is the quality, it is extremely durable and strong. Plus it looks awesome :)

While it's great to go for the cutting edge technology I'd prefer the tried and true.

In other words I'll let y'all be the guinea pigs. :D

And that PSU, you know you're going to be drawing a lot from the wall and reaping little benefits from it (for now).

But hey, if your parents are paying the bill I won't say anything.
