ram problems

Hello all!! i got gateway dx 4710 computer with windows 7.. I got 4 gig ram installed right now but it's only showing up as 2 gig.. I opened the pc to try different slot to see if that would be the problem,but now i notice that my ram only works in 1 slots the other 3 slots i get a long beep when i turn computer on
Both sticks of ram works in just 1 particular slot.. So i am guessing that all the other slots are dead.. what puzzles me is how can 3slots get shot at one time could it have been the graphics card that iinstalled that could have cost those 3 slots to die?

I'd run memtest to see if the ram is still going but maybe windows cannot see it all..

When i look in bios it only showing as 2 gig

Is both sticks of Ram identical?

Probably the ram sticks are not compatible with each other!

Yea they are the same ram i got with the pc when i first bought it

Try putting them in odd or even numbered slots (1x3x or x2x4)

my ram slots blown to, we are stuck in the same boat lol, I tried to guess it was a PSU problem, ended up getting a new one, no problems with system as of now (1year later) but the ram is still blown, obviously I didn't think a new psu would fix it but I thought it would fix a power problem, and so I'm still lead to believe it did
