I have been thinking of building a really high end gaming pc for a while now, however I don't know if I should go with a Intel Core I7 4930K or 4960X. Of what iv'e read the 4960X doesn't seem like its worth the extra $500, but that why I made this post is for you guys to help me decide which is a better deal.

Side Notes - I will be overclocking a lot.

I think X is for their "x-treme" edition. I would go with the 4930K. It's pretty much the same CPU but a tad slower. Still overclocks like a son of a bitch.

Yeah the X version is the better CPU. Not by a hole lot though.
Now taking the price into comparison the X version is much more expensive performance vise. Also less power efficient.
I would definitely go with the I7-4930K

Why not go for the 4770K?

Was wondering the same as I don't think games really need that high end of a cpu as much as a high end video card. Even a 4770k is a little over board. I would go with the 4930k though if I had the money.

good point Bk and Fuji.
Those 49xx CPU's does not increase the FPS in games further then then what a 4770K would at all.
So i guess he is just interested in a hex core for the nerd orgasm :p
