Well a lot of home users would just use the free one that came with their computer such as Norton, Trend Micro because its free and they may not have a lot of knowledge about this kind of thing. For the average user a free antivirus would be enough but not Norton or Trend Micro.

another reason is that if i do get a virus, i know how to get rid of it you know? people that arent so savvy would rather just pay..

Many reasons why I use a free anti virus however I think the biggest reason is . . . . . .

I mean I'm a sucker for why pay for something that you can get free?
Yes the paid for versions are better and have their additional features but I feel like a competent user that only needs basic protection, I would probably recommend a paid for version for my mum or sisters as they're not too tech savvy.
