I just took it for a test drive. Having not use OpenDNS for years I was please they have made improvements on the network they have.
The time to find an address is really fast and the page load time improved over the Comcast DNS. Now this may be in combination with they fact the internet here is on cable. If you're on DSL or something like Uverse, it might not make all that much difference.
Only way to find out is to try it.

i used it at home as a firewall and it worked great. you can set a lot of different settings. and it is free! and all you gotta do is on your router or computer set one of your DNS with the one that openDNS gives you.

I use OpenDNS myself. I haven't noticed much of a difference with resolving hosts any faster, but when I punch in Google, I know that I'm going to Google's home page.

Take a look at the GRC DNS benchmark utility (grc.com) for a good way to test hundreds of DNS providers for latency, availability and other measures - openDNS is definitely one of them.
