The 6600k would be nominally faster than a 5600k, but probably not enough to notice, especially for your granny

the Pro4 is a nice motherboard, supports overclocking (probably not necessary) and has 4 RAM slots

I would stick with the v300. It's twice as large as the M4 for only $10 more. I would say 120GB is probably large enough on its own, but if you went with only 60GB I'd probably suggest throwing in a HDD too.

I changed the PSU because the CX430m you had is $53 on amazon, not the $43 that it says. The EVGA 500w is the cheapest decent quality PSU available ATM. Buy from newegg. You could stick with the cx430m if you really want modularity.

Cheap basic A75 mobo, only 2 RAM slots.

Cheap 1600 RAM, 2 sticks rather than 1 in the build above. Dual channel RAM will give better graphics performance.

After I realized that APUs were the way to go for this project, I found out that Newegg is having a bit of a APU sale. One of the items is the AMD 3-in-1 APU with 8GB MEM SuperCombo.This bundle includes an AMD A8-6600K Richland 3.9GHz FM2 Quad-Core Processor with Radeon HD 8570D integrated graphics, an ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M FM2 AMD A75 Motherboard, and a 8GB CL9 DDR3 1600 stick of RAM. (from what I've come to understand, it's the cheapest decent quality PSU available, I was originally going to go for a Corsair CX430M/ CX500M, but decided I have no need for it's modularity)

Going to house it in a basic Cougar Spike tower(Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!...) doesn't need to be fancy. I'm going to update it to an SSD, a 120gb Kingston SSDNow V300 Series, I think I'll make that the only drive, it's more than enough space for her: Amazon.com: Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height) with Adapter Solid State Drive 2.5-Inch SV300S37A/120G: Computers & Accessories

I'm not thrilled about having the single 8gig stick of RAM, but I suppose it should be fine, for the usage it's going to get.With shipping and whatnot, it comes in at just under $400 in total.

Any thoughts? Critiques? I'm definitely settled on this build unless someone can show me the errors of my ways.

Just throwing this in there but you might want a wireless card and if you want speed and storage you could try a hybrid drive ?

She currently has USB Belkin wireless adapter that I'll set up on the new box when we do the swap.

In all honestly, I don't think she needs to worry about storage all that much.
