I just upgraded a eee pc 1015T from 1gb to 4gb ram and it shows 4gb in bios but only shows 4gb (2gb usable) in windows why is this? I know 32bit can see up to 4gb or at least 3.5 gb so what is going on

it has a amd v105 processor @ 1.2ghz
120gb HDD and now 4gb ram and windows 7 starter

yeah i did that and 4gb shows up in bios but it says 4gb (2gb usable)

Windows 7 Starter is capable of using up to 2GB of RAM.

why would microsoft put a stupid limitation on windows like that? I mean they would have had to actually add code to block more than 2gb ram I know the computer can see it and windows can see it however just chooses to use only 2gb

Simple, to make more money by getting people to buy more premium versions of Windows and higher end computers.

I think I found a workaround for the ram and this is the result which I like a lot better
it only says 3.75gb probably because of the video memory now so all 4 gb should be used now
