help please!

hello, i have used deban to wipe clean my hard disk drive,and wipe out my windows operating system . I wanted to wipe out windows to replace it with kali-linux. I have downloaded kali-linux from my other pc, and burnt it to a 4gb rw dvd.

I then placed the 4gb rw dvd in the dvd drive on my computer, it says check cable connection, insert boot media and press a key; even though i already have a dvd with kali linux on it in the dvd drive.

then thinking the dvd is somehow is defective, i then try burning kali linux to a usb--then when i go to boot it is says the same thing check cable connection, insert boot media device.

If someone could please help me i would be very grateful--have a great day

You sure it's not supposed to be burn as an iOS image?

yeah you have clearly burned the wrong way.
I personally use USB booting instead of wasting CD's/DVD's.
If you want a USB to be bootable you need to go to http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ and download the software to ready your USB to boot up a linux system.

Be sure your boot priority is set correctly.
