.gif = Gif or Jif

I find it really ironic that "gif" is pronounced "jif" not "gif"... If it's spelled "gif" it should be pronounced "gif"...
 
Well if you equate Geoff as Jeff then makes perfect sense. But common speak has it as GIF.

Honestly, my first thought the other day when I read the original article was, "why would I call a picture 'peanut butter'. And then Jif posts a Gif of them saying it's pronounced Jif....:lol:
 
The g is for graphics, hard "gu" sound, it carries through to the acronym.

Whilst we're on the subject,
Routers are named for their routing ability chosing routes, not their wood carving abilities making routs

Favourite really does have a U in it,

But weirdly Americans actually have the aluminium aluminim thing right.
