Well it seems the father of the format has finally ended the debate.

I didn't know there was a debate. It's always been (and will always be) gif to me. No one will know what I'm talking about if I start saying calling them jif files.

I find it really ironic that "gif" is pronounced "jif" not "gif"... If it's spelled "gif" it should be pronounced "gif"...

Well if you equate Geoff as Jeff then makes perfect sense. But common speak has it as GIF.

Honestly, my first thought the other day when I read the original article was, "why would I call a picture 'peanut butter'. And then Jif posts a Gif of them saying it's pronounced Jif....

Sometimes I'd rather be wrong
