We had an irc channel a couple years back. It didn't last very long. The problem is that people will start to forget about it after a while, and it's not integrated into the forum or anything, so there isn't much to remind them or attract new users.

It's been brought up a million times, and started a half a million times by people. They usually don't last more than a week. It's honestly not worth my effort to be in favor of this since it'd just die right away.
