External Hardrive

Hello everyone , i am building a new pc , but i need some help , bascily i have the 'GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3 MOBO' , now thats all great , but i have a question , now i have a old external hardrive , but its not in its enclouser , so now , will it work with this mother bored, Because , the Sata cable fitts, but i havent tried it yet, soo will it work

As long as it hasn't failed or anything like that, has the right connectors then yes it should be fine to use.
