I have aaptop with an built in wireless card. If I decide to use a usb wireless adapter instead, what MAC address will it transmit over the net? The USB adapter one or the internal and how can I tell?

Thank you for your help

You can tell by using cain and abel, it's a network tool and will display the mac addresses from the device you use to connect to.

Start cain and abel view the mac address, you'll have to scan first.

The MAC number is a function of the device. Your internal card has it's own as the USB device will have it's own.
Make sure if you go with a USB wireless device you disable the internal card.

Thanks for your responses. So, if I understand this correctly.

If I disable my internal wireless from my laptop (Whose MAC address is AAA (for the sake of example) , and use my USB wireless adapter, (Whose MAC address is BBB (for the sake of example), the transmitted MAC address will be BBB - correct?
