need help with xp and drivers

press ctrl+alt+f1 and enter the gui and type startx

seems like a graphics driver problem, try updating.

Where would I find newer graphics drivers? And I was also thinking it could be hardware but I thought thered be more of an issue if it was hardware.

After startx it loads like a desktop but it simply stays at that screen.

press crtl shift esc keys together

if task manager pops up, go to file, run and type in to the box "explorer.exe"

Ctrl shift esc did not do anything=/ I tried updating with sudo apt-get upgrade. Still the same screen

Ubuntu desktop right now.

Oh i'm no good on Linux, i thought it was Windows. Leave it to the Linux gurus on CF.

Sudo start lightdm did the trick!

is sudo a CLI command to go into superuser status?

Not a hundred percent sure. Found it through like 2 hours of google.
