The White House is in favor of letting you legally unlock your cellphone or other mobile device without your carriers' approval, and is considering a range of actions to achieve that end including a potential push for Congressional action, the administration announced Monday.

I find it rather shocking that the government would get involved in this.

About damn time. Governments *should* be getting involved in this and quashing these ridiculous anti-competitive actions.

Personally I think they should act much more in this regard - clamp down on any propriety interface connectors that aren't technologically necessarily, enforce a standard for laptop chargers and batteries, ban software patents... the list goes on!

Has anyone seen this yet? http://getpebble.com/

I'm really interested in it. I might talk to my wife about getting one for my birthday.

EDIT:
Just checked the support forums....ya...maybe not. Lots of issues it appears.
