The front page of our newspaper today shows a space picture showing just how dry Hawke's Bay is.

All the hills are covered in brown dead grass.

Yes in winter, the South Island gets some in the middle-end of winter.

Temps are in the low teens.

Where I am (Hawke's Bay) we have had snow at 200 meters, not at sea level (we are about 19 feet above sea level)

actually... my sons and I use sunpreview.com it's an annual seasons calendar. ok it's very very global and average, but enough for my trips. and i use the reminder function on my phone
