Greeting,

I have a Dell T3400 running Vista with only one, small, HDD and want to install a 3TB Seagate Barracuda drive, model ST3000DM001. There is only one 5.25 bay that will accept this drive. The user manual says this is where the 4th hard drive is to be installed.

Can I install this with out installing HDD's in slots 2 and 3? If so is there something special that has to be done to get the system to play nice with the new drive?

Thanks,
twk

Hi twk

I would leave an empty bay between HDDs (air flow) and as you going over 2TB Seagate have made things easy with > Beyond 2TB | Seagate

As this is a new (I take it) HDD you may need to format (NTFS) and assign a drive letter.
