Depends. If it's a leica or another desirable one, they can run $1000 or more. Most consumer cameras aren't really worth much of anything though.


Here are a couple examples of photos I've taken with those cameras. The dust in the images in from the scanner. You may have to adjust your monitor brightness to view them properly. Black and white and computer monitors don't really mix well.

If you really want to try it, see what your relative has or pick up an old 35mm slr and a 50mm lens somewhere. Pentax K1000 is generally the one recommended to students due to its no-nonsense design. Developing black and white film is quite easy. So is making prints, but you need a bit more equipment for that, which can be kinda big if you have an apartment or small house. You can usually get darkroom stuff on craigslist really cheap though.

also have 55-300mm, and macro 85mm prime for it besides the kit lens
