I've been having issues running games on my laptop. I try to run something as complicated as Battlefield 3 Multiplayer, and my laptop can't even handle running it for 15 seconds. I use AT&T U-Verse for my ISP. But then I run something simple, like Minecraft, and my frame-rate is terrible like 15 minutes into the game, and I'm not even playing on a multiplayer server! I've been hunting for some answers for about 2 months now, hopefully someone here can help me :)

I've run tests on Speednet.com, and my current upload speed (tested today) is 0.12 Megabytes per second, and my download speed is 0.72 Megabytes per second, with a Ping Latency of 45ms. I'm confused because with a Ping of less than 50, my games should run great according to other people on the web, but my download/upload speeds are way below the global average. I've tried different servers & I get pretty much the same results.

So since Speedtest.net didn't give me answers, I ran a tracert from my computer to Google.com in Command Prompt & came up with this:

Now from what I've read on other forums, I've concluded that I shouldn't be getting all these other IP addresses, but #1 I don't know where all these other IPs came from, and #2 I don't know how to get rid of them if they're causing problems.

If there's something else that I should do, please tell me so that I may do it, or if there's other information that anyone needs, please let me know so that I may supply it. I would really appreciate any help from other people, even if it's just a point in the right direction :) Thanks!

When you run a Tracert test on command prompt, it tells you how long it is taking to each path before it reaches google.com in this case.
Tracert is run to see what journey the packets take before reaching its destination google.com in your case and shows ip information of its visits this does not mean anything other than the places it went to get to its final destination.

What it does show is 3 * * * Request timed out. Loss of connection at points on the journey. Ping count should be no greater than 45 which is yours it could be lower than what is showing it ideally you want around 30 ping count.
See what is robbing the resources and do the following tests and give me the results remember do not show any IP Address of your own this is personal and private information and should not be shard
Also before I forget your speed to your internet is painfully slow which is not helping matters ask your provider what you should be pulling or what you are paying for.
Tests
1. Ping 127.0.0.1 and save report
2. View active connections and save report on which are established.
3. Ping google.co.uk or .com 12 times count.
4. View network route table information
5. Tracert test games server
6. Ping test games server IP and save results
Once you have done the following let me know the results and I will tell you where to go next.
Attached is a program written my me to help you get these results with the option to save the report.
Note! Anti virus systems or windows defender see this as a treat because of testing it carries out the program is safe to use and is only there to help you I am trying to sort the problem out and am in talks with the anti virus developers as we speak so this should be resolved soon I was told that the reason for this is they do not know the name of the file nor is It published so it does not contain a signature so anything I write it ses it as a threat but all content and software is free and safe any problem give me a shout.

Thanks for your information,
what this tells me is that there are people high jacking your internet connection,
you have far to many ip addresses attached stating ESTABLISHED, open command prompt and rerun the test for the results and in command prompt type tasklist and see what PID is showing connected and what services are running from that.

What other devices do you have attached,
how many devices are you running,
what anti virus software do you use

your results wher e intresting also have you done a virus scan yet? just a thought

0.12 up and 0.72 down? What tier are you on with ma bell?

0.72MB= 5.76Mb
0.12MB= 0.96Mb

I've had dsl that went faster than that. Either they're throttling your connection when you go to play a game. Or it's simply not enough bandwidth.
Oh BTW laptops are not gaming machines. Most of the time the video is crap.

I ran the tasklist command, this is what I came up with for all the "ESTABLISHED" connections:
1896 (Listed under 1 ESTABLISHED IP) = mDNSResponder.exe (Services)
1796 (Listed under 1 ESTABLISHED IP) = AppleMobileDeviceService.exe (Services)
2956 (Listed under 8 ESTABLISHED IPs) = spotify.exe (Console)
3308 (Listed under 1 ESTABLISHED IP)
= SpotifyWebHelper.exe (Console)
2820 (Listed under 4 ESTABLISHED IPs) was not identified for some odd reason during the check.

For anti-virus, I use AVG 2013, the free edition, backed up by the free version of TheatFire & Glary Utilities as a Spyware remover. I run regular virus scans with AVG, & I use the Glary Utilities about once every two weeks.

As far as I know my internet password is secure, but I also don't know what you mean by internet password. If you mean my SSID key, nobody else knows it but my family members that come over sometimes.

I do realize that a laptop is not the most ideal machine to be playing high graphic games like BF3 on, a faster internet connection would definitely help with MMORPGs though.
 
Possibly. But if I was you I'd be asking your ISP about their throttle policy. Listen to how they put an answer to you. It's not what they say. It's how they say it.
My money's on they're jacking around your connection. Reason being you get roughly 15 minutes play time and then it all turns to crap.

Thes two are normal and safe they are just Itunes but you could stop the service as you don't need them it will help the ping rate lower and use them when you want to use them.

These 2 are program monitoring software and should not not running either disable these 2 using its control panel and take it out of the registrey

This ones needs checkinging can you see it at all in command prompt pid tasklist or services or a process called svchost.exe under current pid there must be a way to kick it.

disable those 4 and delete from regedit so they do not start redo the ping test and ping count and see if it makes a diffrence.

@Fujitsu_Technician I've got 2824 under svchost.exe, but that's the closest I can come to a pid of 2820. I'll disable the four of them & get back to you.

Removing Spotify from the registry didn't help at all, my ping latency actually increased to 85ms after doing that. So I viewed the active connections. The ones from Spotify are gone, HOWEVER, I had 13 established connections from Firefox about a minute after I had started Firefox, and now I have 7 and those are the only ones established. Should I switch to a different browser or is something else the issue?
