Thanks everyone. I did disable secure boot as well as changed the uefi in the bios. However, it was still a no go. The boot screen kept telling me to put in a boot disc.
I know that my disc was good cuz my other computer recognized it as one.
See for taking boot from usb either on startup select boot menu and select usb.. or else go to bios settings.. in boot and change the boot order/sequence..
now to install ubuntu along with win8 u will need a separate partition. So go in control panel of windows 8. View by Large or Small Icons. Then go in Administrative tools. Double click on Computer Management. Then go into storage. Then in Disk Manager. And from there you can make a seprate partition for ubuntu..
