I'm a big fan of Avast. At work we use Vipre. I'm currently rolling it out to replace Symantec.

I used Vipre for a year and found it very good, I intend buying it again for my new build in 2013.

I just sick with Microsoft security essentials very good but now it's stuck on off and every time I try and turn it on the window is not responding don't get it is there another way of turning it on ??

Uninstall it redownload and install ... you should be good to go babes

I recently purchased a new laptop and the first thing I did after powering it up was to get rid of Norton, it slows down the computer and it prevents anything from installing without explanation, it would be less hassle to get a virus.

Yeh. Just stick to windows defender not the best but will do me and it free

Windows Defender was initially an antispyware program, and was included with Vista and Seven.

In Windows 8 it is upgraded to an AV program. It resembles Microsoft Security Essentials, and uses the same virus definitions.
