BIOS Issues

Right i see, ok then, it cant be the hard drive causing you issues.

Have you checked simple things such as the boot device order and make sure network booting is off.

Also does the BIOS see the hard drive and how often does the bios loose all the time and date information ?

Next i would try putting windows onto a USB and booting from that and try the startup repair (windows vista/7). If there is nothing of value on the machine do a clean install. Obviously make sure that you have your licence key on the bottom of the netbook visible.

Use a program such a Sardu to make a windows USB disk. Obviously providing you have a windows Disk in the first place or know where to get hold of one.

1. HDD is set too boot first and network booting is off - check.
2. Yes the BIOS sees the HDD and probably every 2nd/3rd time you boot.
3. I was planning on doing that but thought I would wait to see what you had to say and the licence key has faded off and not visible and I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro..
