Haha I won't deny that fact at all. I've even seen viruses make their way past NOD32 but the few times I have seen that happen a new signature update was all that was needed to automatically remove the problem. Maybe that's not normal for NOD32 but I haven't seen Norton do that.

Unfortunately I have no say in what we stock and are forced to sell to customers. I have to smile and say "yes it's the best". The only other solution we sell is McAffee which I don't think you will deny is worse than Norton.

I don't want to hijack this thread anymore, but I don't want to put a stopper on this conversation either. If you do have any more comments/questions please PM me or start a new thread and I'll be happy to continue the conversation :)

In fact, check your PM box as I do have a question for you about Norton

I have used Norton260 in the past and I will not buy the program ever again. When I went to a Romanian newspaper site( one that I frequented as my family does have Romanian in our genealogy) as soon as I opened the site up I was hit with twelve Trojans. Noton could not catch them fast enough. My screen went blank and the computer shut down. When I went to restart the computer it booted up some of my programs were missing of the desktop, and it would not connect to the Internet. Every time that I re booted the computer there would be files and software missing. I ended up having to scrap the hard drive and install a new one. Ever since then I have been using ENOD32 and I have never had a problem with it again. ENOD32 catches the viruses as soon as it come into the computer and disinfects it and eliminates it. Quite possibly the best program that I have ever used for anti-virus

,my comp.has all ready been infected,is there any free or paid program on the market that will completely clean my comp.of viruses? & im curious what programs do the pros use to clean ur comp.like when u take into a comp.store??

If by pro's you mean those of us who are regular members of this forum, I think I can give you a quick list of programs we would recommend.

-Malwarebytes Antimalware (free)
-AVG Free Edition
-Microsoft Security Essentials (free)
-CCleaner (free)

If you can get Malwarebytes or Microsoft Security Essenstials installed on the computer, run them and it should find the problem. If not, you can post back what's happening and we can help you some more.

Seti's Toolbox

CCleaner
Download CCleaner 3.20.1750 - FileHippo.com
Check everything except wipe free space. It takes forever to run that one function. Keep running CC over and over till it's down to zero items found. On my w7 lappy it gets down to 3MB left in the browser. That's ok too.

FindJunkFiles
Find Junk Files - CNET Download.com
Run once (maybe twice) then empty out the trashcan. You'll be surprised at what it finds.

Best Free PC Registry Cleaner Software Download. Fix Errors Now!
Even though CCleaner has a reg cleaner, it doesn't hurt to run another one. Run once.

Best Free Registry Defrag Software Download
You'll be surprised at how much defraging the reg will perk up you machine. Run once.

ESET :: Get a FREE Online Virus Scan
It will have to download some files to work off of but it's cool. Just follow the prompts. Also if you want one of the best antivirus programs out there, this is it. The price belies the power behind it.

ComboFix Download
This is a no holds barred, romp and stomp virus scanner. Only get this from the above link. It makes backups on its own then runs. The page it shows at the end is gibberish to first time users. Don't fret over it. If you need to know what it's saying just copy and paste it and we'll run through it.

How to Use Stinger | McAfee Free Tools
Click the link on this page and follow the prompts. Once you get set to run it leave the settings just like you found the except add c: to the directories to scan. That makes it look at everything on the C: drive. Run once. Takes a while to finish. This is another romp and stomp virus scanner.

Malwarebytes
Get the free version. Run the update if it doesn't tell you to when you run it. Run once.

Disk Defrag - Best Free Defrag Software For Your Hard Drive
Back to auslogics to get the best drive defrager out there. These are the cats that made the defrager windows uses. But their inhouse version leaves that one in the dirt. Theres 2 modes you can use. One is a simple defrag and the other is to optimizes the files. It places all the files in order. Windows will scatter files and parts of files all over your drive where ever it finds a blank spot. Makes for a sluggish drive response time. Note: If you run the optimize function do it when you have nothing else you're going to need your machine for. It takes a good while to get the drive straightened out. Fire it up and hit the rack.

Don't firewalls prevent this stuff from even running?

Nope. Firewalls only prevent unauthorized traffic into and out of a ccw computer not programs from starting. As far as the firewall knows, the downloads are something you want since you just sent an internet request.
