Gaming Laptop

Im gonna rack your brains here, so if you got no patience leave now xD

Ive got a desktop gaming rig, love it. Spend 70% of my free time on it.
However im looking for a laptop for the times when im not at home.

Im not looking at buying just yet, after Christmas, As i am a student who works two evenings and weekends, i need to save, and Christmas is good because of the overtime.

First thing was Alienware, love the look of there stuff, and made by Dell so usually high quality, however there very expensive. ie charging £360 for a 256gb SSD. But i found a good Deal in the end:

Pros: Looks Good, Trusted Brand.
Cons: Glossy Screen, Small RAM, no blu-ray.

My Next option is MSI: they have the cashback offers going at the moment which means i can get:

Pros: Matt Screen, Bluray.
Cons: Doesnt look as good, seen alot of moaning about this brand.

Logically looking at these the MSI is better.
And when picking tech, i normally always go for performance over looks.
but a desktop in my room is alot different to a laptop to travel with.

What your comments, i dont mind fact and opinion.
Or do you think this is to much money to spend on a casual gaming laptop?
and do you have any other suggestions i may have missed.

I won't comment about the money being "too much", because that's your personal choice, based on what makes you comfortable.

I also wouldn't be concerned about what you call "small RAM", in the Alienware, because 6GB is plenty for any game, and will be for some time to come, and can always be upgraded. As for it's lack of Blu-Ray, I guess that depends on how badly you need it? The glossy display would tend to bother me. But it has the better CPU, and GPU, and that's what you really care about, right?

For me, it would come down to decidiing if I could live with the glossy screen. If I could, then the Alienware is a go!

The Matt screen is my biggest issue, whats also really annoying is that they don't offer a no OS option either: because i have Pro To go on it anyway.

6Gb is not small true, but i also do abit of 3D Design, but it was £50 to upgrade to 8Gb. Maybe Worth it.

I think the alienware is just attracting me more than the MSI. Just a shame Dell charge so much for every upgrade when i know i could do it for so much less.

I guess it depends on what deals they have at that time
