Hi all.

I am having some trouble with trying to reinstall windows 7 on a laptop of mine. I put the language settings and keyboard setting in, then I press install now and it wont get past that.

Please Help!!

Fresh install or Re install.

Check disk for defects.

I've had this happen on my wife Aspire laptop before.
I had to load up a partitioning software and completely remove the partition. Didn't create a new one. Then run the install. Worked fine from there.

I don't remember where her install would get stuck.

Also Haven't had it on a laptop, but desktops, I've had the cd/dvd drive overheat.
You can carefully clean the laser lens of the drive. It may be dirty.

It doesn't get to the stage where I can choose a fresh install or reinstall. I am trying this because I the OS is still on laptop but wont load up at all. Any particular software that I should use.

Any 3rd party bootable partitioning software.

UBCD has free partitioning software. There are many free utilities. Could also have a defect in the hard disk.
Be warned, once you remove the partition. any and all data will be gone and lost.

Basically any of them in the UBCD HDD partion tools there seval of them

you'll select the disk, choose delete partition,
If you have a dos disk you could even use fdisk.

Which of these is best?
