New computer does not boot. Blinking cursor.

Problem:
No boot, blinking cursor on black screen


My setup:

Biostar A780L3B Motherboard
Athlon 645 cpu
Pareema 4gb 1333 ram
SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD


More details:
I put my WinXP Pro SP1 installation disk into the DVD drive, formatted my SSD and it copied the Windows installation files at which point it needs to restart and boot from the SSD in order to continue with Windows installation... and this is when it just gives blinking cursor on blank screen.


I tried to google this problem but I am not very computer savvy and was not able to figure out what it is that I need to do in order to get it to boot.

If anybody could explain in simple terms or suggest what I should try, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.

did you Install the os or simply copy the install files to the drive?
You will need to boot with the cd and run the install.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my first post. I did boot with with the CD and ran the install. Then, when it needs to reboot during the install, all I get is the blinking cursor.

I figured it out.

When I ran the Windows install, I simply reformatted the drive.

What I should have done is delete the partition first.

Deleted the partition, then reformatted and now it boots just fine.
