Hello,
I dusted off my old Gateway computer to get some old pictures oout of it. It is running Windows 98 and I do not have the original CD. The computer has been sitting for probably 8 years unplugged. It starts up and will not work in safe mode or any other mode for that matter. It keeps telling me: ERROR HIMEM.SYS has detected unreliable XMS memory at 04000014 XMS Driver not installed.
I am by no means a computer expert but fairly mechanically inclined so please give easy to follow instructions or guidance on what I need to do.
I've been reading that in may be a RAM problem, the internal battery could have died and changed settings, etc... I am open to any help and thank you so very much in advance for your time and help!
