Run Memtest. To back up data, use a bootable, umm, I think you use a Linux installation disc and boot from it. There are many resource tools on it. I hope you get your PC fixed!

Sounds like you may have a virus. Virus scan!!!

It kind of sounds like your hard drive may have failed. Can you check that there are no USB memory sticks plugged in. Also are you able to boot into safe mode (by pressing F8 as Windows is starting up).
