Problems connecting PS3 to pc monitor

I'm trying to connect my PS3 slim to my HP 2010i monitor via a HDMI to DVI cable. The male DVI is a single link whereas the female DVI is dual link. When it's connected, my monitor screen is black with a message saying "input signal out of range. Please change to 1600x900 Hz" I've heard that I need to change the DVI input display to something the PS3 can recognise such as 1280x720, but I have no idea how to. I don't have the manual. I have roamed through the OSD but can't find anywhere to change the display. What can I do to fix this?

You may well need a HDMI to DVI converter. These come as either a lead, or a solid block (note there are a few types of DVI > Digital Visual Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), DVI and VGA are both incapable of supporting an audio signal, even if they're converted to HDMI (which does support audio) so you may need a to use a separate audio cable.

Without actually seeing your setup honey I would guess your connections are different to what you have setup for another system

Try holding down the power button at the front until it beeps 2 times then take ur finger off it try that
