I have decided I am definitely going to buy a new laptop for gaming. This one at the moment cannot play team fortress 2 on lowest settings (around 1 fps in-game), integrated graphics etc.
I am using money I have saved from University, I have saved £3000 of which I plan to use around £1000 to spend on a laptop, is this enough? I heard spending more then this is worthless as laptops become outdated quickly anyway.
I found at university I got with the LAN-party crowd, feeling a bit left out as I have a computer that can't play many games.
I am hoping to play modern games i.e. guild wars 2, diablo 3, tribes ascend, dota 2, cs:go etc. on highest preferable, but not necessary i.e. I don't mind medium settings too much.
I have already looked (using google) and have came up with several options, I would like some help to decide what path I should go down

Alienware laptops - Pricy but good service? It seems like you need £1500+ to buy a good gaming laptop here.

What I am REALLY worried about though is cooling system within laptop. At the LAN (goes on for like 2 days) my friend's laptop kept overheating every half hr and shutting down and he bought his like... 1 year ago. How can you tell if these will perform well in terms of not overheating. Is it mandantary to buy a laptop cooler?
Another thing to note I used http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html for reference for processor / graphics hierarchy, is this a reliable source of info?
