asus p8z77-v not recognizing memory

long story short, i just bought a bunch of computer parts to build a computer. For the motherboard Im using the asus p8z77-v deluxe. I have everything in and on first start up the board is showing code 55 and the bad memory led is on. the memory im using is

did i make a mistake and get memory that is not good for my motherboard?

Memory is compatible (should be)

Try taking one stick out and see if it does it, then take that one out and put the other in.

To be honest, in this case, the CPU, Motherboard OR MEmory could be bad. It's just a question of finding out which.

wellll..... i noticed some gold pins on the cpu socket on the mb were bent..... i was sure i was sunk, but i held onto a childish dream that maaaybe it will work! Im just covering my bases to make sure.

I did the memory truffle shuffle a few times before i posted, as well as pulling the battery out of the mb and putting it back in. prolly shoulda mentioned that.

Removing the battery is not a problem.

Bent pins however, ARE a problem
