Hi everyone, Im going to university next year and need to choose buy a laptop. The minimum specs are rather high, as we'll be doing a lot of renderings, etc. For now, my choice is the Asus G55, from the xotic PC website

Everything is default except that I removed the CD drive, moved the 750 GB HDD in its place, and made the default hard drive the Intel 120GB SSD. The cost is about 1550$. I think that if I need more RAM, I can add more later.

What do you think of this build? anyone have any suggestions for other laptops/builds? Also, is raid 0 a good or bad idea? And has anyone had experience with Xoticpc?

I think Xotic is Excellent and powerful PC. For the strength of the GPU, the laptop never overheats. Arrived in pristine condition and was reasonably priced.

Are you sure that you know what youre talking about? Im pretty sure Xotic is not the PC but the service that customizes the laptop manufactured by Asus.
