Asus P5N-D - Link: http://ca.asus.com/en/Motherboards/I...specifications

im willing to spend around 100 to 150 on a new CPU
And as for a GPU i think something along the lines of these in terms of pricing

Not too sure about the new Ivy Bridge stuff, but I can recommend Intel's Sandy Bridge 2500k as a brilliant processor for the avid enthusiast/gamer.

As for GPUs, Look at the new line of GTX cards and AMD have recently released their 7000 series. You can probably pick up one of the previous GTX or AMD lines for a big cheaper now (GTX 500 series, AMD 6000 series). Not sure about how prices are in Canada though.

Motherboard will only support up to Intel Core2Quad, so thats the maximum installation of just the CPU that you cando.

If you want to upgrade to an i series, you'll need a new motherboard, and new motherboards come with DDR3 RAM, so you'll also need more RAM.

You'd be talking maybe 60GBP for a motherboard by itself ($100 I think)

For a decent GPU, minimum 120GBP is my opinion (about $180), 50GBP ($75) for RAM, at least $200 for an i5, maybe $120 for an i3

$295 for an i series processor upgrade including RAM and motherboard (i3) $80 more for an i5 upgrade.

I'd go with getting a Core 2 Quad myself unless you intend on buying a complete new system. Should be an alright gamer with a GTX 560
