Looking for a user-friendly database software

open office is a suite of office programs, (much like microsoft office)
the difference is that it's free to download and use.

if you just want a form type interface but dion't want to build one then I'd really suggest using access and just using the table view to enter data, it's the most spreadsheet form like one you'll find.

then you can use the form builder to visually build the interface that you want for entering your data in.

honestly, mysql can be web based, or command line based, but, where you are at the moment, it's one of those things that you should either be going to a professional about, or inbvestigating as a back burner type thing, especially if you've got lots to do.

(If you start with access you can import the data later anyway.)
(same for the open office version of access, lots of tutorials about how to use it, and you can export the data reasonable easily later into a proper database when you're confortable with that.
