Does somebody know free program that can update drivers via Internet and good programs that can find hardware faults?

Windows Updates does a good job on older machines. Otherwise a quick search on the manufacturer's website using the model number works great too. I wouldn't trust any of the driver installing programs available as "freeware".

What kind of hardware faults? Memtest86 (or something like that) is a good one for RAM. Most Hard Drive Manufacturer's offer some kind of hard drive diagnostic program on their websites (that probably only work with their hard drives).

For HDD faults I use this program called HDD Regenerator. I've used this little gem successfully to get data off of drives that were otherwise unreadable. It has the ability to correct magnetic errors in the disk surface and can buy you some time on a dying drive. It's obviously not a permanent fix, but it can give you a chance to get your data back. It's not free, however, but worth the money...
