Two memory slots in a notebook is usually dual channel, though it can sometimes be single.

Turn the power off, remove the battery, unplug the power and give it 5 minutes. Then plug in just the AC and turn it on again. Still having the looping problem?

Grab this: Download Hiren

Burn to CD or make a bootable USB drive, then boot the system to it and run the MemTest. Let it run for at least two passes. If that doesn't give you any errors, start checking the other usual things - CPU temps, hard drive stability (which the Boot CD can also help with - just look under Hard Drive tools for GWSCAN and run the full test)
