Hey guyssss whats up? So Girlfriend wants either kindle or nook for xmas. What is better? Your Opinion! basically be using it to read ebooks prob internet, music most likely. I dont think she will do much on it beside. i know theres like all different type like Nook Color is one of them. Any of them just name what you think.

Thanks guys!

my friend just recently got an kindle fire and is enjoying it a lot! :)

if you have amazon prime, you can stream a lot of the videos for unlimited too!

kindle fire is nice! go with the kindle

yea i saw that on the tv was wondering how that one is..is it color and all? and i dont think she has the amazon thing u were saying highly doubt it

I have no personal preference one way or another. I don't like reading on a backlit LCD screen like on tablets including the kindle fire since it gives me eye strain and headaches after only half an hour or less of reading. That may be an issue with my poor vision though and not the devices themselves. however if you want ebooks internet and music just get a cheap android tablet and both the kindle reader app and the barns and noble store apps and have both in one device.

IMO you can never go wrong with a CNET Review:
Kindle Fire: http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/amazon-kindle-fire/4505-3126_7-35022491.html
Nook Tablet: http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/barnes-noble-nook-tablet/4505-3126_7-35059751.html
Fire vs Nook: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_7-57330571-251/kindle-fire-vs-nook-tablet-how-to-choose/

Here's my take from the reviews:
The Nook costs $50 (a third of the cost of the Kindle Fire) more.
For that $50 you get a room for expanded storage, more RAM, fancy case design, a few extra hardware buttons (volume and home), better battery life, and a better looking screen (even though they are the same size and resolution).

In other words, the Nook is the better tablet, but you have to pay for the extra features. If they were the same price it would be a no brainer, but if money is tight and your on a budget, the Fire is a viable solution.

Check the reviews and you can make a better informed decision about which one you want.

This is a niche product. If she wants to read eBooks and that's it, then go with one the B&W e-ink models-- longest battery life, easy to read even in full daylight, etc. For compatibility purposes, the Nook would probably be your best bet.

If she wants a tablet computer for surfing the web &etc, with eBook reading on the side, then I'd recommend straying away from both Kindle Fire and Nook color and go with a full-blown tablet such as a (shudder) iPad 2 or one of the Android-based tablet machines (the newest Samsung Galaxy Tablet blows the iPad 2 away in terms of hardware, I hear, but no idea when it will be available in the US).
