Another question is. If I put Win XP on it even though there are no Vista drivers for this machine do you think it will run ok?

If you have an XP key for that individual laptop then once you find drivers for it, it'll fun fine. If you do not have an XP key for it, don't waste your time as the Vista key will not work.
