can you comment on my choices of parts, or if you may have better recommendations, they are welcome!
i am planning to build a powerful computer but i am also considering the budget, i need it for software collaboration that requires a lot multitasking. drawing, 3d modelling, rendering. i am looking for computer parts that are reliable and will last. thank you!

and please tell me if i'm wasting money on things i don't need. thankyou!

My picks from your list would be:

Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Professional
RAM: G.Skill
CPU: er... duh! :)
Graphics: If you can, up it to a GeForce GTX 570. I know there's several Adobe programs that can leverage the 570 to a great extent (we do it at work)
Hard Drive: Samsung. I don't even consider Hitachi. They can't seem to make reliable drives at all.

Regarding the hard drive, I'd recommend a WD or a Seagate over the Samsung. I'm with og on being against Hitachi, they're not that good, don't buy them!! You might of course want to consider an SSD. I have a Crucial M4 128GB in my system and the speed difference between this and my WD 2TB drive is noticeable, even with the SSD running at half it's speed on a SATA II connection (this SSD is SATA III capable).

There's no reason to pick WD or Seagate over Samsung in this case however. The Samsung drives have proven themselves for both me and my job, and I'm just as comfortable recommending them, if not more so (since they tend to be a little less expensive than either WD or Seagate anyway)

Not everyone can afford an SSD, especially when it's the primary OS drive. There's no denying that the build requirements of this system would love to have an SSD to move data around with, but I didn't see the OP mention it, so I didn't bring it up...
