Operating system not found

I go to boot my laptop and it says "operating system not found" (It runs windows 7.) I changed the boot drive, and now it says "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable" followed by "PXE-M0F: Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent" & then "operating system not found"
I opened up the bottom of the comp and giggled a couple wires around and then the Operating system worked again. Went to install a ton of updates and while installing, it failed and turned white screen. Went to turn it on again and it turned on but then restarted and now says the same thing again.
Any ideas?

check your bios setting for which hardives are your primary and slaves

I'm not sure what you mean, but I checked the boot order and it's as follows:

Notebook Hard Drive
Usb hard drive
usb diskette on key
usb floppy
atapi cd/dvd rom drive
network adapter

did you contact microsoft for support?
