Building my first gaming computer

Hey guys i am going to attempt to build my first gaming PC this holiday. At first I was going to go through IBuyPower, but i found out that is major rip and that I can get a way better PC if I just build it. I plan to order my parts from newegg. I have a budget between $1300-$1400. I was hoping some of you could give me hand in picking out all the parts ill need to play many upcoming games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 at max settings.
